Organisation conducts Study classes at 10 different locations in Navapur block of Nandurbar district. Each location has average 20 numbers of students from different educational standards attending regular study classes for 2 hours. This activity helps us to identify good students and motivate them for higher studies. Our teachers are helping students to develop interests in the regular studies and keep them updated with general knowledge and reduce school drop outs up to certain extend.

Organisation is encouraging tribal children and youths to read daily news papers and keeps them updated with current affairs in the country and world through reading places established in villages. Organisation is supporting youth groups to build low cost reading places and provides daily news papers in Marathi language. “Employment News” is leading weekly publication is also provided to all centres so that youth are updated with employment opportunities for them. Some tribal doctors have shown willingness to support this activity by sponsoring theses reading centres.

Encouraging self employment and financial sustainability for target beneficiaries is core function of this organisation. We are organising training sessions for skill enhancements for the unemployed youths. This activity helps them to start their own business, trades and bring financial security to them and their families. Organisation has successfully trained about 150 individuals from the tribal community. Organisation has also provided small financial grants to few youths to buy tools and equipments for earning their livelihood.

Knowledge of computer is the need of the hour. Most of the children in the villages do not get opportunity to learn computer during their school days. AaSHRAY-DURG has taken an initiative in computer education by starting free computer classes for the tribal children in the service villages. Our friends, well-wishers have donated used computers for this activity.

Organisation is actively involved in educational development activities by supporting eligible student’s secured admissions in various institutions. Till today our organisation has supported more than 70 students for different studies. Currently organisation is supporting few girls for nursing studies, graduation and more than 20 students for their post matriculation schooling. The support is done through offering necessary guidance and financial grants to the students.

Group of working professionals in Mumbai have started “Joshi Kaka Scholarship” in fond remembrance of their friend Shri Arun Joshi who passed away in 2013. AaSHRAY-DURG is the nodal agency to disburse this scholarship by identifying eligible students.
